I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”

- Jack London

Nail

Nail

Frugal Traveler

Frugal Traveler: New York Times Blog on Traveling Cheaply.

How to create custom ringtones in GarageBand 4.1.1

How to create custom ringtones in GarageBand 4.1.1: Easier, cheaper, fitter, faster, better, happier, longer lasting ringtones for free. Do not believe in anything simply..."

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

- Buddha

Infinite

Infinite

Finish: Wild Sweet Orange

Finish: Wild Sweet Orange

Two Guitars!

Apparently at some point in the near to not so near past, Unwed Sailor added a second guitar. It does give them the ability to pull out a more ambient, blasts in the atmosphere sort of sound, though I’m not quite sure what I think of that. What I’ve always most liked most about them was the raw, honest indie rock thing. Very minimalist, but in a good way. I guess the post-rock kids these days have to have their building and falling background screech guitar, and the market knows. Or something. I definitely don’t. Know what I’m talking about that is. Or anything for that matter.

The Faithful Anchor / Firecracker era songs seemed to have had second guitar parts written for them, the upshot being that one of the parts was still more or less the original one, so the songs still sounded like the same song. This a welcome relief to the personal alarm established last December when a single guitarist at the show apparently meant that only the new guitar parts were played, with the result being that all the old songs just sounded wrong, albeit good, to my ears.

So far I’m liking the new album, Little Wars, quite a bit. More like The Faithful Anchor than any of their subsequent albums, me thinks. Although truth be told I did like The Marionette and the Music Box quite a bit for the amazing departure that it was.

Lastly, let it be known that Jonathan Ford still rocks out with mad Burton rhythm when playing bass!

"Security is mostly a superstition.
